Black Radicalism and Black Spirituality is the integral essence of Kathleen’s being, and she makes no qualms about it. Kathleen has often been criticized for her staunch Black radical ideology. This criticism and the isolation that followed has caused much internal conflict for years. But one morning in her daily meditation and prayer, the call to action she received, allowed her never again question who she was or why she was here again.
Her ancestral assignment became clear to her when she was led to read Jeremiah 6:16, “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your soul”. Kathleen knew this was a directive to stand firm in the ways of old; in the ways of her grandparents, their parents, and the generations before. It was an instruction to never forget MAAFA, never let America forget MAAFA, and to never betray her roots. And Kathleen has vowed to do so until the day she closes her eyes in death.
Kathleen is fueled by the valor, virtue, and intestinal fortitude of Nat Turner, Denmark Vesey, Gabriel Prosser, La Negra Carlota, Queen Nanny of the Maroons, Harriet Tubman, Malcolm X, and the Black Panther Party. Kathleen knows there is no need to reinvent the wheel, as the path to freedom has been laid by the BPP’s 10 Point Program. She is just here to continue the work.
